Castles – 1995 to 1995 – This short-lived soap opera followed three generations of the London-based Castle family, and included a young Sally Wainwright (Happy Valley) on its writing staff.

Casualty – 1986 to 2018 – This series is all about the lives of the people in the emergency department at Holby City Hospital.

Coronation Street – 1960 to 2018 – This iconic British soap follows a community of working-class people in Manchester.

Crossroads – 1964 to 1988 and 2001 to 2003 – This low-budget soap opera centered around a fictional motel in the Midlands.

Doctors – 2000 to 2018 – This Midlands-based soap follows the lives of medical staff at two medical facilities.  

Eastenders – 1985 to 2018 – This classic British soap deals with the working-class people around Albert's Square in the East End of London.

Eldorado – 1992 to 1993 – Verity Lambert (Doctor Who) executive-produced this series about mostly British ex-pats in Spain.

Garnock Way – 1976 to 1979 – This Scottish drama was set in a fictional mining town between Glasgow and Edinburgh, and was deemed too gritty to be shown on some channels.

Holby City – 1999 to 2018 – This series follows the lives of staff, patients and others at Holby City General Hospital.

Hollyoaks – 1995 to 2018 – Set in a fictional suburb of Chester, this series follows a group of mostly young characters as they deal with life and love. 1__

Hollyoaks Later – 2008 to 2013 – Hollyoaks Later was designed as a late-night spinoff to Hollyoaks to allow them to explore darker and more sexual content.

London Bridge – 1996 to 1999 – This series focused on a group of young adults living in a converted mill in London.  

Machair – 1993 to 1998 – This Scottish drama was set on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides and broadcast in Gaelic with English subtitles.

Night & Day – 2001 to 2003 – This early 2000s soap is set in Greenwich and centers around a group of friends as they raise their families.  

Quayside – 1997 to 1997 – This short-lived soap opera covered the lives of a group of young people living on the Newcastle Quayside.

Revelations – 1994 to 1996 – This late-night soap is a drama about the family of an Anglican priest and his wife.

River City – 2002 to present – This Scottish soap opera focuses on the lives of a group of people in Glasgow.

Take the High Road – 1980 to 2003 – This soap opera focuses on the residents of Glendarroch, a small Scottish Village.

The Cut – 2009 to 2010 – This youth-oriented soap was broadcast in 5-minute daily increments online over the course of two years.
